Effective Email Writing Skills
An essential aspect of communication in any successful organisation is targeted writing.
The ‘Effective Email Writing’ workshop is designed to help participants become more effective and efficient writers - writing internal and external correspondences that gets to the point, generates action, answers questions, suggests solutions and solves problems.
Using job-relevant examples (collated from the participants’ pre-course work) and language skills enhancing activities, participants will learn how to write so that they communicate their ideas clearly, meet their readers’ needs, hold their readers’ attention, convey a credible message and project a professional image in line with modern business writing practices.
Who should attend?
Department heads, managers, executives, secretaries, administrators, clerical officers, who frequently need to write emails in English.
Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
· adapt their writing style to suit the readers’ needs
· design an email to highlight key points and allow quick access to specific information
· write in an appropriate tone and choose words wisely
· write clearly by using shorter sentences and simpler grammar structures
· write concisely by omitting redundant words and clichéd language
· recognise and correct common mistakes
· develop editing and proofreading skills
